Vocal and instrumental selections will be from the following types of music: Spiritual, Semi-Classical, or Classical. The term “Classical” will not be limited to music from that period of history, but will apply to selections of a classical nature as opposed to those of popular music. Piano selections must be appropriate or classical according to the rules of the category.
Participants are to avoid contemporary movie themes, and songs produced and/or popularized by current pop or rock stars. However the instrumentals to these songs may be used, if the instrumentals are appropriate for the church environment.
Medleys are acceptable.
The music activity is solo activity for school Yr. 1 and up.
Selection must be spiritual, and related to the theme.
Performance at least 1 minute and maximum 3 minutes.

Cross age group is open to participants of all ages from school Yr 1 to adults. There must be at least 3 different age groups represented in the group.

An overall consideration of elements such as: Speed of playing, Tune, The accuracy of the pitch,
● Any musical shaping and detail (like slowing down or playing quietly in some parts and other musical expressions)
● Minor/no errors throughout
● Appropriate volume
Complexity of the music piece: 10%
Level of the music piece which includes: changes in rhythm, tempo, key (scale). This complexity demonstrates the skills of the musician.
Tempo & rhythm: 10%
This is an overall score of two key elements:
1. Tempo: the speed of the piece, is it suitable and consistent throughout the piece?
2. Rhythm: is there an accurate rhythm which is consistent with the tempo?
Pitch: 10% (1 - 10 points)
The accuracy of the notes being played which reflects whether the person is playing in tune.
Relates to the theme: 10% (Yes/No)
Quality of recording: 5% (1 - 5 points)
Is the quality of the audio recording good so that you can hear the music clearly? Can you hear any background noises (e.g. white noise, footsteps etc)?
Instrument is in tune: 5% (1 - 5 points)
This is different to whether the person is playing in tune but about whether the instrument itself is tuned well.
Within time limit: 5%
Participant played for at least 1 minute and was committed not to exceed 3 minutes.
