Praises & Choir

Praising God is not just a group activity. The teachings and traditions of our Church fathers clearly show how praise is considered prayer and how God’s presence could be felt during praise that flows from the heart.

Competition Guidelines:

• The praises  activity is a group activity for all age groups. 

• Selection must be spiritual, and related to the theme.

• Performance length can be up to 15 minutes total, split across 1-3 submissions.

• Cross age group is open to participants of all ages from N&R to adults. There must be at least 3 different age groups represented in the group.

• Group size is 3-20 participants

• By submitting your audio, and or video, you are providing your consent to be presented on Youtube as unlisted playlist

• Praises selection must approved by church's priest 

Evaluation Criteria:

• Performance (25%) - The quality of the performance is determined by: clarity of words, pitch/rhythm/tempo mastery, tuning and musicality of solos, visual presentation and unity, expressive but controlled dynamics, and positive engagement/attitude.

• Relates to Theme (20%) - Count how many of the songs relate to the theme and score this category proportionally based on that ratio. 

• Harmony (25%) - Evaluate how cohesively the group blends and sings together in harmony throughout each song and the performance as a whole.

• Singing with Music (20%) - Assess if the choir stays in tune rhythmically with the accompaniment, and factor in if the music track is too soft. 

• Recording Quality (5%) - Audio clarity and minimal background noise/interference.

• Time Limit (5%) - Time the total performance and songs to ensure it falls within the maximum 15 minutes and 3 song parameters.
